If you're reading this, it means that unfortunately Parkway Drive's Reverence North American Tour has ended, and you won't be able to see a concert like this for a long time. Parkway Drive headlined the tour to promoting their newest album Reverence released in 2018 on Epitaph Records. Parkway Drive chose the most legendary supporting lineup imaginable. August Burns Red, The Devil Wears Prada, and Polaris kicked off the final night of the Reverence North American Tour at the Hollywood Palladium.
Starting the night off was Australian metalcore band Polaris who really got the crowd moving. If you don't know their album The Mortal Coil, you need to check it out immediately because they just got announced to open with Beartooth for Architect's Holy Hell UK Tour. Their setlist featured four songs off of their 2017 album The Mortal Coil but my favorite song from their set, "Regress," came from their 2016 album The Guilt & The Grief (there's another great album to check out!) During their final song, "The Remedy," Jamie Hails (vocalist) led the crowd in waving their hands in unison, making the crowd look like a waving sea.
The Devil Wears Prada continued the metal festivities, opening with the song "Mammoth" and following it up with "Planet A" off of their 2015 Space EP. RADIO CHECK! The mosh pits slowly grew, eventually becoming circular in form. TDWP played "Worldwide" off of their most recent album Transit Blues. Later on in the set, they played "Anatomy" off of their 2010 Zombie EP! Overall the crowd was mesmerized by the heads banging, sweet riffs, and epic screams The Devil Wears Prada had to offer.
Up next was August Burns Red who put on a spectacular performance as always. The band primarily played songs off of their previous two albums Phantom Anthem and Found In Far Away Places. Right out of the gate they played "King of Sorrow, Martyr, and Invisible Enemy," which got the set off to a spectacular start. Jake (vocalist) was constantly dancing and swinging his mic around like a ninja during their songs, JB was shredding the guitar in flip flops, and the crowd was losing their minds as always.
The pulsing and surging nature of the crowd was unlike anything I had ever seen. The lights were completely off and Winston (vocalist) screamed "EVERYBODY FUCKING JUMPS 1-2-3 JUMP" then the lights blasted on and Parkway Drive launched into "The Void." There wasn't a single person standing in the room. The show was insane and exactly like this from start to finish. There was a Hurricane Florence sized circle pit in the middle of the crowd as Ben Gordon, the drummer of Parkway Drive, began a crazy big drum intro into the song "Karma." The intensity was palpable as they played five songs to promote their newest album Reverence. While Parkway Drive didn't use any pyro for their Reverence North American Tour, the crowd was definitely on fire. Parkway Drive will be continuing the Reverence Tour in Australia with Killswitch Engage and Thy Art Is Murder.
